Trails Update, May 7, 2020

With the announcement from Governor Scott that he is loosening restrictions on recreation in Vermont, STP is opening our trail network at noon on Thursday, May 7th, 2020.

Although the trails are opening, we are not out of the woods when it comes to COVID-19.

STP still encourages only short travel distances, avoiding congregating at parking lots/trailheads/popular gathering spots, keeping your distance from others, leashing dogs at all times, and having a face-covering accessible. Specific trails are now directional, and there may still be areas that are closed due to trail conditions. The Town of Stowe reserves the right to close the parking areas if people congregate or disregard social distancing rules.

We are grateful for all the landowners, members, partners, and volunteer support, which continues to amaze us.

When we opened the doors to maintenance, we were happily overwhelmed with volunteers wanting to help maintain the network. Every trail in STP’s system was adopted and cleaned by volunteers! Our community’s hard work has certainly paid off as we open our trails and enjoy the outdoors safely.

See you on the trails!
