STATE SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT TO INFORM WORCESTER RANGE LAND MANAGEMENT PLAN

The Worcester Range provides access to public lands from central Vermont’s population centers, including Stowe. The Worcester Range includes many popular recreation destinations, including Mount Hunger, Perry Hill, Stowe Pinnacle, Moss Glen Falls, Mount Elmore, Elmore State Park, Mount Worcester, Brownsville Forest, and the Hunger Mountain Headwaters.

Currently, the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is developing a new long-range management plan for the Worcester Range. They are asking for input to better understand how Vermonters use and value these lands

Your feedback will influence the Worcester Range management plan, which typically remains in place for 20 years. The form will be open for public comment until August 3, 2020.

Here are some things to consider when submitting your feedback- feel free to use any or all that speaks to you:

  • Non-motorized recreation: multi-use, mechanized recreation corridor
  • Ecosystem services, including clean water, clean air, and carbon sequestration
  • Wildlife habitat and critical corridors for wildlife connectivity
  • Natural processes and disturbances (wind, ice) rather than active management (logging)
