Get Involved!

With each trail project we undertake, Stowe Trails Partnership pursues the accompanying goal of enhancing and strengthening the Stowe community. We offer opportunities for volunteers to contribute to our work, which leads to a sense of ownership and heightened stewardship of the trails and the land. And it’s fun!

Do you want to get more involved with STP’s work? Read on to learn more about the several opportunities we have for you!

Attend a Trail Day

STP holds several volunteer trail days throughout the year – this is your opportunity to get your hands dirty and put some tools in the dirt! Projects can include anything from raking leaves to building bridges and removing invasive plants. Keep an eye out for opportunities on our Events Page and social media.

Join a Committee

STP’s Board of Directors and staff are supported by several committees:

  • Trails Committee. The Trails Committee is responsible for advising the STP Board and staff on trail management and maintenance. They work collaboratively to ensure STP does our best work on and for the trails.
  • Fundraising Committee. The Fundraising Committee is responsible for the fundraising activities of the organization, including membership, the Community Supporter program, and the Sponsorship program.
  • Outreach Committee. The Outreach Committee is responsible for STP communications, marketing, and event planning. From social media to email newsletters, to website maintenance and design, they are responsible for all front-facing communications.

The committees are comprised of board members and other volunteers that are interested in the specific tasks of each committee. Each one meets monthly to continue moving the needle on ongoing projects.

Become a Trail Steward

Trail Stewards help STP increase our eyes and ears for spots that need maintenance throughout the 38+ miles of trails we manage. Each Steward is assigned a certain trail or part of trail to monitor.

Trail Stewards are not expected to do the work for us, but to let us know where the trail needs some love. STP uses this information to arrange volunteer workdays or pass it along to our trail crew for them to address. If you are interested in going a step further and putting tools in the dirt to fix issues you see, we welcome you to do so! STP is willing to train interested folks in what to look for and how to conduct basic fixes and clean up.

Become a Trail Ambassador

Trail Ambassadors help with STP’s outreach and education efforts out on the trails. They engage with folks at a grassroots level in the community, helping ensure everyone is having fun and being respectful while out on the trails. We look to Trail Ambassadors to engage with users and help us grow our membership by educating folks about who we are and what we do.

Attend STP Board Meetings

STP is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. They meet on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:00pm – 8:00pm to discuss everything from trail projects to events to long-term planning. Our board meetings are open to the public – anyone can join and offer their thoughts or feedback on our work and we love welcoming guests!
